Tony Clymer has been a major player in a wide variety of commercial and residential real estate transactions for over twenty-six years. He is a former assistant prosecuting attorney for Franklin County, Ohio where he gained significant experience in criminal law and appeals. Upon entering the private practice of law in 1995, Clymer began to represent individuals in residential real estate sales and leasing transactions as well as in eviction and foreclosure proceedings. He also obtained his real estate sales license and title insurance license and was instrumental in the closing of several real estate transactions. Clymer also worked with small businesses in the creation of real estate investment limited partnerships, joint ventures and the formation of limited liability companies and corporations.
In 1999, Clymer became an in-house real estate attorney with a real estate investment company where he led the deal team in the syndication of millions of dollars of equity into multi-family housing projects for limited partner investment funds. He was also solely responsible for several multi-million dollar bridge loans made to general partner real estate developers. Over a one year period, he negotiated, closed and funded nearly thirty million dollars of debt and equity financing.
In 2005, Mr. Clymer moved from Columbus, Ohio to Miami, Florida to become a real estate title attorney with Lawyer’s Title/Commonwealth Title where he was involved with the underwriting of several hundred million dollars of title insurance for commercial and residential transactions including golf courses, resorts, hotels, office buildings, mixed-use projects, high-rise condominium developments, and single family home developments.
In 2008, Clymer became an in-house attorney with Centres, Inc., a nationwide commercial real estate developer. In his role, Clymer was responsible for all title insurance and survey matters as well as the closing of several multi-million dollar land acquisitions and development transactions across the country.
In 2009, Tony became involved with the Florida Chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. (NORML). He sat on the Board of Directors and also helped create the Board of a 501c3 non-profit corporation called “The Silver Tour Corp.” with Robert Platshorn, whose mission is to educate and inform senior citizens all across the country with regard to medical cannabis and how it may be able to benefit them and how they can assist in gaining legal access thereto. Mr. Clymer will focus a portion of his law practice on representing individuals and businesses who are seeking to become part of the medical cannabis business industry.
As a Director of Florida NORML and The Silver Tour, Clymer was instrumental in assisting with live Silver Tour presentations involving doctors, nurses, patients, attorneys, cultivators, dispensary owners and law enforcement and safety personnel. The Silver Tour was even featured on an episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. The Silver Tour also teamed up with a producer to make a 30 minute video entitled “Should Grandma Smoke Pot?” which serves to further educate the senior population.
In 2013, Clymer was invited to serve on the Florida Statewide Leadership Committee along with Robert Platshorn and others in an attempt to pass medical cannabis in Florida in 2014. He also worked with several organizations in lobbying efforts at the Florida state capitol for a medical cannabis bill that had been introduced in the legislature. Tony also conducted research regarding the economic impact of legalization that was shared with the drafters of the legislation as well as the legislators.
In 2014, Clymer became the commercial services branch manager for Attorneys’ Title Fund Services, a title insurance underwriter in Florida. In that position, he managed eight senior commercial title examiners throughout the state of Florida with respect to major commercial real estate transactions.
In May, 2015, Tony moved back to Columbus, Ohio with his wife of twenty-one years Ann in order to be closer to friends and family and so he could parlay his vast experience into his own law practice. His practice will focus on residential and commercial real estate, business law including all business conducted under the medical marijuana law in Ohio, estate planning, probate law and appeals.
